Lily Allen took to Twitter to blast X Factor this weekend. The pregnant singer wrote:
X Factor – FAIL. Too set up/scripted in my humble opinion. don’t know how Simon Cowell has managed to get away with essentially copywriting the talent contest. It’s beyond me, really.’
She then hit back at a fan who challenged her opinion and wrote:
It’s s**t. FACT! It’s everything that I detest about modern western culture.Cowell is the only one who really benefits. People like you EAT IT UP.’
When another follower asked if she’s bitter because she wasn’t asked to be a guest judge she continued her rant with:
I’d rather actually eat my own c**p, than sit next to any of those goons. Except Cheryl, obvs.I’ve better things to do with my time than feed the nation with the notion that doing cover versions will sort your life out.’
Guess it’s safe to say Lily isn’t a fan of X -Factor then?
41-year-old Stephen Hunter, a house husband from Glasgow is the first of this year’s auditionees
A record 12.6 million fans turned on to the talent show on Saturday – the highest ever rating for an opening episode of the programme.
But on the negative, thousands of viewers are furious with ITV because the X Factor contestants were allowed to enhance their voices with auto-tune technology.
A spokesman for the show insisted last night:
Crucially, what the judges hear is the real voice.” ITV1 in a statement added: “The judges make their decisions at the audition stage based on what they hear on the day, live in the arena. The footage and sound is then edited and dubbed into a finished programme, to deliver the most entertaining experience possible for viewers.”
X Factor returns to UK tv tomorrow and here are some of the first pictures.
The talent show will also be showing Cheryl Cole as she collapses after being struck down by deadly malaria.
The 27-year-old slumps on to The X Factor desk during auditions hours before she was rushed to intensive care. The dramatic footage will be screened for the first time when the show returns tomorrow night.
Signs the Girls Aloud star was coming down with something began when she collapsed at the judges’ desk during auditions in Cardiff.
Resting her head on her hands, she is heard to mutter: “I don’t feel well at all.”
Simon Cowell initially teased her for celebrating her 27th birthday a couple of days earlier a little too well.
He told the cheering audience: “Cheryl’s rather ill today. She might get a bit sulky and tired if you’re not nice to her.
“She’s got the disease going around called hangover. You need to be gentle, she doesn’t want too much noise.”
Cheryl hit back good-naturedly: “I may be hungover but I have a good excuse, my birthday was two days ago.”
But Simon quickly axed the banter as she continued to struggle through the day.
Putting a protective hand on her shoulder, he asked: “Are you ill?” as she went to take a nap.
The startling images of Cheryl’s collapse will be previewed for the first time on The X Factor when it returns to ITV1 tomorrow at 7.30pm.
The sneak preview is included in a montage, which has a news bulletin telling how she keeled over on set.
The X Factor returns to UK screens from next Saturday and looks set to be even bigger and better after a number of guest celebrities joined the judging panel in Dannii Minogue’s absence.
Simon, Louis and Cheryl are joined by guest judges Katy Perry, Pixie Lott, Nicole Scherzinger, Geri Haliwell and Natalie Imbruglia in the latest series.
Cheryl is currently recording new songs in Los Angeles for her second solo album and she is expected to perform the first single live on The X Factor stage in October
It has also been revealed that Cole will not be switching to her maiden name of Tweedy when she releases her second album, say reports.
“Cheryl has decided her married name will stay,” a source told the Sun newspaper. “She feels the most successful period of her career has been under the name Cole.
“She’s established in Europe. Going back to her maiden name Tweedy would be confusing. It also shows she is bigger than Ashley and prepared to be grown up about a difficult time in her life,” the insider blabbed.
In related news X Factor choreographer Brian Freidman has let slip that Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough ARE a couple…
After weeks of speculation, show choreographer Friedman lifted the lid telling the mirror.co.uk :
I’m very close to them both. They’re amazing people and make a great couple. I thought they would make a good couple and I’m so pleased to say they do. They’re very, very cute together. Cheryl and Derek both seem incredibly happy right now, that’s all I can say”
According to Simon Cowell, Cheryl is “better and feeling perky” after she was struck down with malaria.
Doctors have ordered her to pull out of upcoming work commitments so she can recuperate, forcing Cowell to search for another star to take Cole’s seat on the judging panel of his U.K. talent show, “The X Factor”.
But Cowell is confident Cole will return to the series soon – she texted the music mogul on Monday, to tell him she’s eager to head back to the show.
He says, “I had a text from her last night. She says she is better and feeling perky. She does want to come back to work but I need to talk to her about when that’s going to be.”

Cheryl Cole was reportedly mocked by Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh as they judged hopefuls in London hoping to make it through the next stage of the competition.
After a Romanian male model sang an out of tune version of her hit ‘Fight for This Love’, Louis told her: “That was about as good as you can do it live.”
Earlier, a girl band called Madame Butterfly had performed ‘Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart’ by Alicia Keys, prompting Simon to say: “I assume you want to be like Destiny’s Child or one of those girl groups from America.”
When the band said they loved US groups but also British girl bands, in particular Girls Aloud, he hit back: “Yes, but that’s hardly the same in terms of talent, is it?”
Cheryl was said to be upset by the comments, which show bosses insisted were just part of “friendly banter” between the judges.
Dannii Minogue has signed a £450,000 deal to return to The X Factor just eight weeks after giving birth.
She will appear in the ‘judges houses’ segment of ITV’s X Factor in September, where she will help whittle down the hopefuls, alongside the other judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh – and then return for the live shows, filmed in London.
Former Spice Girl Mel B and at least two other celebrities will take Miss Minogue’s place in the auditions round.
