Compton born rapper Kendrick Lamar made his US TV debut on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ with his in house band The Roots.
Performing his current single ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’, Lamar follows in the footsteps of A$AP Rocky and Frank Ocean, who both made their debuts on the same show earlier in the year.
He told the audience:
“This for everybody to understand me, I need you to recognize my plan B is to win your hearts before I win a Grammy,”
His debut album ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ (which is is already No. 2 on the Hip-Hop/Rap Albums chart and No. 12 overall in the US) is due for release on October 22. ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’ is available now on iTunes.
