Ne-Yo was on the Rich Clarke show last night on 95-106 Capital FM and he revealed that he might’ve been a bit too clever with the concept of his latest album ,’Libra Scale’, which didn’t sell as much as he thought it would.
Ne-Yo told Rich:
“I am working on a new album right now. I feel like the Libra Scale album might have been a little too cool for the room you know, with the concept, and it was a little confusing. Take the Thriller album. Now the cool thing about Thriller is that even though the album was called Thriller, Thriller was one record, the story was one record, one video and the rest of the album was just great music, you know, that’s the way you’re supposed to do it. People get it right away. That’s why with this next album I’m just going to make sure it’s about the music. Just listen to the music, pop it in, and just vibe out. That’s what the next album is going to be about. Probably around September I’m going to put that one out.”
The singer also spoke about why he chose UK artist Chipmunk as an opening act for his UK ‘Libra Scale’ tour:
“His work ethic. I like people that are like that, because he’s still a fairly young dude but he works and you can tell he really wants to get there you know, so I dig that about him and that’s why he’s there.”
