Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese lends his talents to Chanel to create a commercial for their new men’s cologne, Bleu de Chanel.
This isn’t Scorsese’s first short: He shot Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ video in 1987; the full-length clip runs 16 minutes, but was edited down substantially for television.
Shutter Island the R-rated thriller, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, sold an estimated $40.2 million in tickets in the US this weekend, according to Hollywood.com.
Both Scorsese and DiCaprio have never had an opening this big. The previous for Scorsese was ‘The Departed’ also starring DiCaprio, which sold $27 million over its first three days in 2006. Leonardo’s previous record was the 2002 comedic drama ‘Catch Me if You Can,’ which had a $30 million opening weekend.
Christopher Nolan’s Inception – his mystery-cloaked follow-up to The Dark Knight – has only been shooting for a short while, but already a teaser trailer has made its debut online.
‘Inception’ will have a Summer of 2010 release
Leonardo Dicaprio also stars in forthcoming Martin Scorsesethriller Shutter Island. DiCaprio tells Total Film magazine, “People say I do tragic characters, but I find them very interesting and more compelling. I’m drawn towards them. “I want to be moved during a cinematic experience and this movie changes form in a lot of ways. No-one is going to see this movie and say it’s not interesting.”
Both movies will be out in 2010 and are all ready creating an Oscar buzz. Leo has never won an Oscar for best actor even though nominated numerous times.
