Simon Cowell’s charity single ‘Everybody Hurts’ has gone straight to the top of the UK singles chart tonight [February 14].
The track sold over 453,000 copies to make it the fastest-selling charity single of the century so far, according to figures from the Official Charts Company.
The REM cover is raising money for the [Disasters Emergency Committee] and The Sun’s Helping Haiti appeal.

Mariah Carey is the most recent celeb to be added to Simon Cowell’s tribute single for Haiti. Mariah joins Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole, Susan Boyle, Alexandra Burke, JLS, Miley Cyrus, Take That, Rod Stewart, James Morrison, Mika, James Blunt and more. The stars will be singing REM’s ballad ‘Everybody Hurts’
Simon said in a statment;
It’s amazing these great singers are clearing their schedules to make this happen. I just found out Mariah has changed her schedule to be able to do this too. It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard to help Haiti.This is something that really matters to us all and I’m so grateful for the support we are getting.
