The inimitable Kelis stopped by MTV US to speak on her upcoming album “Flesh Tone”. The lead single “Acapella” topped the US Billboard Dance & Club Songs chart earlier this month, and was her first chart-topper since 2003′s “Milkshake.” The track started out as a David Guetta beat she had lying around and a melody she couldn’t get out of her head.
The singer also spoke about working with her new label boss, Will I Am on the project.
“Will and I worked on my last album together, and I love the fact that — a lot of producers don’t know music. They might know the genre that they’re doing, but he’s great because he has a really vast knowledge of music,”

Without a doubt, this year’s MOBO Awards was one of the most successful in its history however in the aftermath it’s clear that it wasn’t without its hitches.
First up Kelly Rowland performed When Loves Takes Over with David Guetta on the night but later took to twitter explaining her frustration at the performance
The UK’s annual Music of Black Orgin (MOBO) awards wrapped up and few hours ago with boy band JLS (above), N-Dubz and Beyonce all scooping double award wins.
Hosted by Radio 1’s Reggie Yates and Keri Hilson in Scotland, this year’s show was more a celebration of British talent then previous years. Performances on the night included Taio Cruz, who performed ‘Knocked You Down’ with Keri Hilson and Kelly Rowland and David Guetta who performed their UK #1 ‘When Love Takes Over,’ (although with much difficulty – more details to follow).
La Toya Jackson introduced a moving Michael Jackson tribute, celebrating the King of Pop’s legacy to the music industry with touching performances from brother Jermaine, Britain’s Got Talent winners, Diversity and runner up, Shaheen Jafargholi.

Kelly Rowland has teamed up with leading UK high street retailer River Island to create an exclusive range of T’s for them, in aid of youth charity The Prince’s Trust, called ‘River Island Presents…T’s for The Trust’
The unique designs will go on sale at River Island stores in November, with all profits going to The Prince’s Trust to help change young lives. UK singers Alesha Dixon, Pixie Lott and four-piece band Kid British are laso involved with the project and will design their own t-shirts.
We caught up with Kelly backstage during New York fashion week before she went off to the River Island photoshoot. She was also keen to let PunchBowl Blog readers know that she has nearly finished work on her new album and it won’t be “all dance records” despite the fact she has worked on a lot of songs with David Guetta.
She’s spent the past couple of months recording in LA, New York, Miami and London and revealed that she’s found the first single. Stay tuned for more news developing.
