Producer and DJ Diplo has announced that he will be getting his own show on BBC Radio 1.
Over the past year, Radio 1 has seen major changes in their schedule. Diplo is the latest DJ to be added to the schedule.
Diplo with host ‘Diplo & Friends’ on Saturday nights from 1am till 3am. The show will have “exclusive mixes from Diplo, the Mad Decent stable of artists, and a selection of big name pals and cutting edge new artists.”
This weekend sees the first edition of the show with one hour each from “Montreal’s king of swag, Lunice, and Mad Decent mastermind Paul Devro!”
Born Simon Smith and hailing from Derby, Youngman has been described by the Guardian as “… the male Katy B” and “the saviour of pop music” by BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac. With his mix of smooth vocals over dubstep beats, he has also drawn some comparisons to one Craig David.
Signed to the Digital Soundboy label, his first single ‘Who Knows?‘ is produced by dubstep royalty Skream, and has already received early radio support from BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
