Lady Gaga led the winners at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards with eight trophies.
The flamboyant singer paid tribute to late designer Alexander McQueen by arriving in one of his gowns, as well as her controversial raw meat dress to the star-studded Los Angeles ceremony.
Ellen DeGeneres, who is a vegan, taped the season opener of her show last night at the Nokia Theater and asked Gaga about the dress for an interview airing today.
Well, it is certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian. As you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth,” said Gaga. “However, it has many interpretations but for me this evening. If we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.”
Ellen then presented her with a veggie bikini and suggested she try that next time she wants to make a statement.
Thoughts on Gaga’s VMA fashion choices?
The 24-year-old actress poked fun at having to wear a SCRAM bracelet and her own troubled past. Lindsay Joked:
Pull it together! You’re a mess. Do you think anyone wants to work with a drunk? Take it from me – they don’t,”
A tearful Lady Gaga accepted the award for Best Video of the Year for her ‘Telephone’ video with Beyonce at the 2010 VMAs, telling the audience she promised her fans if she won the Best Video category, she would announce the title of her new album.
