Natina Reed Of ‘Blaque’ Killed In Road Traffic Accident!

Natina Reed of 90′s girl group ‘Blaque‘ was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday (October 27) in Atlanta.

The singer/rapper of the group was hit by a car while crossing the street, according to MTV News. She was 32 and would be celebrating her 33rd birthday on Sunday.

Bandmate Brandi Williams took to Twitter to confirm the news writing:

“Last night the world was changed forever, life will never be the same….she was my sister.”

Reed starred alongside actress Gabrielle Union in ‘Bring It On’ also took to Twitter to pay her condolences.

“#RIP #Sad #BringItOn,”

Reed was mentored by Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez. Blaque’s hits included ‘808‘ ‘Bring It All To Me‘ and ‘I’m Good,’ which was featured in the 2003 film ‘Honey’ starring Jessica Alba. It is thought that the group, which also included Shamari Fears were planning to reunite and release new music in 2013.

**UPDATE** Band members Brandi Williams and Shamari Fears-DeVoe have issued a joint statement:

“We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natina Reed. Because of the enormous support of Blaque fans and our love for each another, Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show.

“Natina continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere. Natina was a mother, sister, accomplished songwriter, artist and friend.

“We ask for your prayers at this time for Natina’s family. She will forever be missed and her global influence eternally felt. We thank God for the experiences we shared.”

Meanwhile, police in Gwinnett, Georgia have also issued a statement:

“The driver of the vehicle contacted 911 to request assistance. Natina Reed was pronounced dead at Gwinnett Medical Centre at 10.59 pm ET.”

It has been revealed by Police that while the investigation into her death is ongoing, there are no charges pending.
