Leona Lewis: “We Found Love Was Originally Meant For Me!”

by Courtney on 14/10/2012

Singer Leona Lewis has revealed that the worldwide smash hit single ‘We Found Love’ was originally written for her.

The X Factor star says the track, made famous by Rihanna and produced by Calvin Harris was recorded by her first. The track was then passed on to Rihanna.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Lewis said:

“I worked with Calvin and we recorded We Found Love. But he went touring with Rihanna and she ended up releasing it. I didn’t commit to it because I wanted Trouble to be my first single so I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna. It was the same version and production but mine’s better.”

‘We Found Love’ went on to hit number one in 25 countries and is one of the biggest selling singles of all time, with over 6.5 million copies sold.

Lewis released her new single ‘Trouble’ earlier this week. Her third studio album ‘Glassheart‘ is released on Monday.
