John Mayer who looks set have the number one album with ‘Battle Fields’ in the United States next week [beating the likes of 50 Cent], has spoken out about the backlash against Kanye West.

Speaking to ‘Access Hollywood’, Mayer said: “If you just woke up now and you looked at the backlash on Kanye you’d think that he actually firebombed the stage.”It’s the MTV Video Music Awards, not the G8 summit. Kanye West got in more trouble than the guy who yelled, ‘You lie!’ to the president. [He] got like a two-day slap on the wrist and Kanye West – his entire career is in escrow because he jumped on stage at the Video Music Awards.”Mayer went on to say that he believed West is “remorseful” about his behaviour and is probably “reconsidering how he’s gonna act”.He added: “We learn from our little mistakes that happen in public. I’ve taken my little prat falls… and you pick yourself up.”

In related news Kanye seems to have used the hiatus to make some ‘G.O.O.D’ music. Mr Hudson said “I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he was keeping a low profile, which is sensible,” Hudson said in a guest blog for the Daily Star newspaper. Hudson also hinted at what fans can expect from Kanye’s next LP. “He works 24 hours day but I’m not worried for him — he has the right people around him. And Kanye’s getting back into rapping. He might make an old-school record on a tape deck, like the Beastie Boys used to do. Just a drum machine, ghetto blaster and a microphone,” he blogged.

West’s former touring DJ, A-Trak, also talked to the Daily Star about West’s music plans. “Kanye’s taking a bit of time away from the limelight. But he keeps telling me all these ideas he has for songs and fashion bits,” A-Trak also praised Kanye for his “amazing” versatility when it comes to creating ideas.

We’re glad Kanye’s working on his comeback, we’ve missed him on PunchBowlBlog!
