Paris Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld and photographer Steven Klein are today facing backlash over their decision to photograph Dutch born model Lara Stone in blackface for a 14 page editorial in their October issue. Paris Vogue is known for its edgy and often controversial shoots but this time they’ve stepped too far with an editorial that many are seeing as racist and ignorant.
The lack of ethnic models in the fashion industry is one that has been discussed, argued and debated for years and only last month, Naomi Campbell blogged about how things have still not changed, and these pictures prove her point.
The editorial is from their October issue we posted about which featured Kate Moss on the cover. Said to be an issue dedicated to supermodels it’s also been noted that the magazine contained no black models at all.
Do you think Paris Vogue’s editorial is offensive? More pics after the cut
